Mitsotakis Unveils 23 Billion Euro National Development Plan

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis launched a 23-billion-euro strategic investment plan to modernize infrastructure and achieve European economic convergence by 2030.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Ministry of National Economy and Finance presented the National Development Plan (NDP) 2026–2030 at the Athens Concert Hall on July 21, 2026. The five-year strategy allocates 23 billion euros to 37 targeted infrastructure and growth programs, replacing previous fragmented regional planning with a centralized vision intended to reach all 1,008 postal codes in Greece.

The initiative focuses on upgrading transport infrastructure, climate change prevention, the transition to a circular economy, digitalization of public administration, and poverty reduction. Mitsotakis attributed the funding capacity of this framework to disciplined economic management since 2019, noting that Greece is reducing its public debt faster than any other OECD nation.

The program serves as a strategic foundation for the Prime Minister's party platform ahead of the 2027 national elections. Mitsotakis positioned the plan as a decisive move to ensure Greece achieves real economic convergence with the rest of Europe by 2030 rather than remaining in a category of countries that perpetually chase those that excel.
