Houthi Attacks Target Saudi Airport and Oil Fields
The Houthi group launched strikes on King Fahd International Airport and the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia, drawing widespread international condemnation.
The Houthi group launched a series of attacks on October 23, 2026, targeting King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The strikes resulted in casualties, injuries, and significant material damage to civilian and energy infrastructure.
The League of Arab States and the Muslim World League condemned the strikes as violations of Saudi sovereignty and international law. The Arab League warned that targeting energy facilities and airports constitutes a dangerous escalation that threatens global energy security and civil aviation safety. The Government of Spain called for an immediate cessation of attacks in accordance with the United Nations Charter, while the governments of Syria and Lebanon also issued condemnations.
Farooq Abdullah, President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, warned that the attacks could trigger global economic consequences by disrupting oil and gas supplies, which would increase fuel prices for low-income households. He called for diplomatic solutions to prevent a wider humanitarian crisis and emphasized the need to protect the holy sites of Makkah Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah.
