Celsa Group Seeks Proposals for Sale or IPO
Celsa Group is seeking investment bank proposals for a potential sale or initial public offering to provide liquidity for its current shareholders.
Celsa Group, a Barcelona-based steelmaker, has requested proposals from investment banks to explore a potential sale, an initial public offering, or a dual-track process. The company is conducting a strategic review to offer liquidity options to its shareholders after working to restore profitability.
The current owners, a group of investment funds including Strategic Value Partners and Attestor, took control of the company following a 2023 financial restructuring. This takeover followed legal disputes between creditors and the former owning family. As part of the 2023 transition, the company reached agreements with the Spanish government to limit job cuts and maintain domestic operations.
Celsa operates electric arc furnaces across Spain, France, and Poland. Chairman Rafael Villaseca Marco stated that directors are authorized to find an exit strategy for the investors.
