Salesforce Integrates Anthropic Claude to Drive AI Growth

Salesforce, Inc. partnered with Anthropic to integrate the Claude reasoning engine as the default model across its Agentforce, Slack, and Slack coding products. The agreement allows customers to access a frontier AI model within the existing ecosystem while retaining the flexibility to swap models. This strategic move aims to mitigate concerns that large language models might erode the company's competitive advantage.

The integration provides a mechanism for Salesforce to upsell customers to premium subscriptions, which carry a price increase of 60% to 80% per seat. Following the announcement, Salesforce shares rose nearly 23%, marking the company's best single-day performance since 2020.

Financial reports accompanying the move show second-quarter revenue growth of 11%. The Agentforce AI product line specifically saw a 240% increase in annualized revenue, reaching $1.5 billion. CEO Marc Benioff addressed market fears regarding AI disruption, while Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei noted that his company is a Salesforce customer.
