Laura Loomer Faces Backlash After Racist Attacks on Angie Nixon
Right-wing activist Laura Loomer sparked a political conflict after posting racist attacks against Florida Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon and other Black women on social media.
Right-wing activist Laura Loomer launched a series of racist and sexist attacks on X targeting Florida Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon and other Black women in power, including U.S. Representatives Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley, former Representative Cori Bush, and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. Loomer described the women as "ghetto, entitled, race-obsessed, destructive black BITCHES" and specifically mocked Nixon's speech as "Ebonics," suggesting she needed her "leash" tugged.
The rhetoric triggered a public rift within the MAGA movement. Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene denounced the comments as "hateful, racist and demeaning," arguing that Loomer's presence in the Republican inner circle damages the party and its candidates. Maryland Governor Wes Moore also condemned Loomer, accusing her of "peddling racism" for financial gain and social media clicks.
Loomer responded by branding Greene a "traitor" and doubling down on her statements, asserting she "meant every word." Representative Nixon dismissed the attacks and urged her supporters to remain focused on her campaign to become Florida's first Black U.S. senator, where she faces Republican Senator Ashley Moody in November. Nixon further mocked Loomer by reminding the public of a video in which Loomer ate dog food on camera.
