Hong Kong Home Prices Flat in August After July Drop
Private home prices in Hong Kong remained essentially flat in August following the first value decrease since March 2025.
Private home prices in Hong Kong remained essentially flat in August, with the price index increasing by 0.06%. This marginal movement follows a 0.8% decline in July, which marked the first decrease in home values since March 2025 and ended a growth period where values rose by approximately 13%.
According to the Rating and Valuation Department of Hong Kong, the July downturn resulted from a stock market correction that increased household caution. Additionally, the Government of China implemented tighter curbs on outbound investment, which reduced the flow of mainland capital into the Hong Kong property market.
While the August data suggests the market may have found a temporary floor, the slight increase is considered too small to signal a meaningful recovery or a return to sustained growth.
