TCL Sues Samsung Over Alleged Mini LED False Advertising
TCL filed a federal lawsuit against Samsung alleging the company falsely marketed standard LED televisions as Mini LED products to mislead consumers.
Chinese electronics company TCL filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics in Los Angeles federal court on September 1, 2026, alleging false advertising. The complaint claims Samsung misled consumers by marketing its M Model televisions as featuring Mini LED technology when they were actually recycled standard LED models sold at lower price points.
TCL asserts that Samsung used these labels to regain market share after TCL overtook the South Korean company in U.S. Mini LED sales between 2023 and 2025. The lawsuit argues that Samsung's products lacked the dynamic range and contrast ratios associated with genuine Mini LED technology, which TCL claims provides superior picture quality.
TCL is seeking monetary damages and a court order to prevent Samsung from using the Mini LED label for the products in question. Samsung Electronics has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations.
