Vietnam National Assembly President Visits China for Cooperation Talks

Tran Thanh Man visited Beijing to co-chair a legislative cooperation committee and reaffirm Vietnam's adherence to the one-China policy.

National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man visited China on October 11, 2026, to co-chair the second session of the cooperation committee between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People’s Congress of China. The visit follows a cooperation agreement signed in April 2024 and an initial session held in Hanoi in August 2025.

The talks focused on translating high-level political consensus into practical legislative action. Key priorities include national security, infrastructure connectivity, railway links, and emerging technologies such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things. The coordination occurs as China implements its 15th Five-Year Plan and Vietnam enters a new development phase following its 14th National Party Congress.

During the visit, Tran Thanh Man met with Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in Beijing. Wang stated that China is prepared to advance high-quality cooperation to build a community with a shared future guided by the "six mores" goals. Tran Thanh Man congratulated China on its achievements and reaffirmed Vietnam's adherence to the one-China policy, pledging to strengthen friendly interactions across all sectors of society.
