Pakistan and UK Pledge Cooperation Against TTP Terrorism

Pakistan and the United Kingdom reaffirmed their commitment to combat terrorism and address emerging digital threats during their annual Counter Terrorism Dialogue in Islamabad.

The Government of Pakistan and the Government of the United Kingdom held their annual Counter Terrorism Dialogue in Islamabad on November 4, 2026. Led by Pakistan's Director General Counter Terrorism Dr. Fareha Bugti and the UK's Director for National and Economic Security Thomas Barry, the delegations focused on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation to combat transnational terrorist networks.

Both nations expressed specific concern regarding the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operating from Afghanistan. The delegations emphasized that a stable and secure Afghanistan is essential for lasting regional peace and prosperity. During the talks, the UK expressed condolences for the victims of terrorist attacks in Pakistan and pledged continued support for Islamabad's counterterrorism efforts.

Beyond traditional security threats, the two countries agreed to exchange best practices to counter emerging risks. These include the exploitation of social media, the use of new technologies by terrorist networks, and the spread of misinformation and disinformation campaigns. The participants agreed to strengthen institutional linkages and scheduled the next round of the dialogue to take place in London in 2027.
