Info Edge CEO Hitesh Oberoi Steps Down After 27 Years

Hitesh Oberoi will step down as Managing Director and CEO of Info Edge (India) Ltd on December 2, 2026, ending nearly 27 years with the company. Oberoi, who led the firm as CEO for over 16 years, will transition to a role as a non-executive, non-independent director on December 3, pending shareholder approval.

Co-founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani will return to executive leadership on December 3, assuming the roles of executive vice chairman, managing director, and group CEO. Bikhchandani's term is scheduled to continue until April 26, 2031, subject to shareholder approval.

During Oberoi's tenure as CEO, the company's market capitalization increased from approximately ₹2,500 crore to ₹80,000 crore. Oberoi stated that he decided to step back to focus on higher education, entrepreneurship, investing, philanthropy, and family. Bikhchandani described Oberoi as an "extraordinary partner" whose leadership and judgment shaped the current state of the company.
