Sri Lanka Flour Millers Raise Wheat Prices by Rs 17

Prima and Serendib, the two dominant flour milling companies in Sri Lanka, increased the retail price of wheat flour by Rs 17 per kilogram. The price adjustment is expected to drive up the cost of bread, baked goods, and other staple foods for both retail and bulk purchasers across the island.

While both companies confirmed the price revision, they provided no detailed explanation for the increase. The move comes during a period of high cost-of-living pressure in Sri Lanka, where domestic prices are highly sensitive to exchange rate movements and global commodity market fluctuations because the country relies heavily on wheat flour imports.
