Bob Chapek alleges that former Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger conducted a campaign to undermine his leadership during his tenure as CEO. In his memoir, "Behind the Castle Walls: My Thirty Years at the Happiest Place on Earth," and a CNBC interview, Chapek describes a power struggle where Iger criticized him in social settings using consistent talking points.
Chapek claims he alerted the board of directors weekly about Iger's conduct. According to Chapek, the board dismissed these concerns, characterizing Iger's behavior as typical and suggesting that Iger would eventually leave the company. Chapek, who led the company through the Covid-19 pandemic, was eventually ousted and replaced by Iger, who served as CEO until March 2026.
