Israel Defense Forces Evacuate Illegal Outpost in Qusra

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Border Police evacuated an illegal settler outpost in the Palestinian village of Qusra in the West Bank on Wednesday. The operation followed a multi-day standoff that began Sunday, during which extremist settlers besieged two Palestinian families, cutting off their water and power supplies and blocking road access.

Initial responding soldiers were filmed praying with the settlers, but the situation shifted following the arrival of Major General Avi Bluth. Security forces deployed tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowd and confiscated a shelter canopy. The IDF declared the area a closed military zone and condemned the outpost as "illegal, reprehensible, and unacceptable activity." Military leadership announced that any active-duty or reserve soldiers who participated in the incidents would face disciplinary action.

Despite the evacuation, some settlers reportedly returned to the site and used boulders to block access roads. The incident occurs amid a broader surge in West Bank violence; UN officials reported the region is at a "breaking point," with thousands of Palestinians displaced in 2026. While human rights groups called for greater accountability, Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, defended the settlements, asserting that Israel maintains biblical and legal rights to the land.
