Enugu State and NCC Launch AI Institute and Talent City

The Enugu State Government and Nigerian Communications Commission signed a 15-year lease to establish an AI Institute and Digital Talent City in Enugu.

The Government of Enugu State and the Nigerian Communications Commission signed a 15-year lease agreement on August 5, 2026, to transform the agency's Digital Industrial Park and Learning Centre into the Enugu Talent City and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Institute. Located in the state capital, these facilities aim to foster startup incubation, digital skills development, and innovation.

Governor Peter Mbah announced that the state is collaborating with teams from Qatar to establish the park as an AI certification center for the African continent. Mbah emphasized the need to retain local talent and prevent the export of the state's brightest minds. The initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's objective of growing Nigeria into a $1 trillion economy.

Nigerian Communications Commission Executive Vice Chairman Aminu Maida commended the project and the state's investment in Smart Green Schools. Maida noted that such infrastructure is critical for preparing the workforce for an economy reshaped by automation and AI, asserting that investment in education and skills expands economic opportunity.
