Marriott International Beats Third-Quarter Earnings Expectations

Marriott International reported third-quarter earnings that exceeded market expectations, driven by a surge in hotel bookings across the United States.

Marriott International Inc. reported third-quarter earnings on November 2, 2026, that exceeded market expectations. The company's financial performance was driven by a surge in bookings across its hotels in the United States, which boosted the company's outlook and led to a rise in its share price.

Prior to the report, analysts had projected earnings of $2.83 per share on revenue of $6.91 billion. While these figures represented year-over-year growth of 14.6% and 6.5% respectively, they were expected to show a sequential decline from the second quarter as peak summer travel ended.

The company continues to manage a development pipeline of 629,000 rooms, the largest in its history, while targeting full-year gross fee revenue between $6.03 billion and $6.06 billion. To increase direct bookings and reduce reliance on online travel agencies, the company is integrating artificial intelligence tools, including the conversational search tool AskBonvoy.

Marriott faces a divergent geographic landscape, balancing strength in the United States and Canada against significant volatility elsewhere. While North American markets have remained strong, the company has dealt with a significant decline in revenue per available room in the Middle East, which saw an approximate 43% drop in the first half of 2026 due to geopolitical tensions.
