Radley London Closes UK Stores as Karen Millen Returns
Radley London has shut all 21 UK physical stores following administration, while Karen Millen relaunches high street concessions through a partnership with The Foschini Group.
The UK retail landscape saw contrasting shifts as Radley + Co. Limited closed all 21 of its physical stores after 28 years of operation. The handbag and accessories retailer entered administration in May 2026 due to challenging economic conditions. While Gordon Brothers acquired the brand's intellectual property and specific assets in a pre-pack administration deal, the retail locations were excluded from the purchase. The closures resulted in 42 job losses, and the company's website was taken offline on August 19.
Simultaneously, luxury womenswear brand Karen Millen began returning to the high street after seven years as an online-only business. Following its 2019 collapse and acquisition by Boohoo Group, the brand is now launching new concessions in partnership with TFG Limited. The relaunch started on August 14 at Fosse Park in Leicester, with additional locations opening in Liverpool and Aberdeen.
Dan Finley, CEO of Debenhams Group, described the return of Karen Millen as a significant moment for a brand with real heritage and a loyal customer base. He noted that physical retail provides a new opportunity for customers to experience the brand beyond digital channels.
