Italian Export Growth Slows to 0.3 Percent in July

The Italian National Institute of Statistics reported a sharp deceleration in Italian export growth for July 2026. Exports increased by only 0.3 percent compared to June, a steep decline from the 1.6 percent growth recorded in the previous month.

On a year-on-year basis, the value of exports rose by 4.7 percent compared to July 2025, though this figure is nearly half the 9.8 percent increase seen in June. Export volumes experienced a more significant reversal, declining by 1.7 percent year-on-year after a 5.1 percent increase in June.

Imports fell by 1.2 percent relative to June but grew 4.6 percent compared to July 2025. Despite the slowdown in growth, Italy maintained a trade surplus of 8.240 billion euros for the month. This surplus increases to 13.756 billion euros when energy costs are excluded from the calculations.
