Doris Ogala, a Nollywood actress, announced her intention to contest the 2027 Abia State governorship election during an appearance on the Clarity Zone podcast. She described her political ambition as a "divine mandate" to rescue the residents of the South-East state, asserting that she is more qualified than other potential contenders.

During the interview, Ogala criticized the administration of Governor Alex Otti, specifically disputing claims that the state provides 24-hour electricity. She further challenged the governor's infrastructure record, claiming that the A-Line section of the Ariaria International Market in Aba was constructed under former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu rather than the current administration.

Ogala has not yet disclosed which political party she will represent in the race.
