Azerbaijan Chirag Platform Hits 107 Million Tonnes of Oil

Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy reports the Chirag offshore platform has produced 107.8 million tonnes of oil and 25 billion cubic metres of gas since 1997.

The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan announced that the Chirag offshore platform has produced 107.8 million tonnes of oil and 25 billion cubic metres of natural gas since beginning operations in 1997. These figures, recorded as of November 1, 2026, mark 29 years of production for the facility.

Located in the Caspian Sea approximately 120 kilometres east of Baku, the platform served as a central component of the Early Oil programme and the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field. The facility uses a network of subsea pipelines to transport crude to the Sangachal Terminal and gas to Oil Rocks and the Central Azeri Compression and Water Injection Platform.

Operational data for the first half of 2026 shows the platform's oil production averaged approximately 19,300 barrels per day.
