Revolut Becomes Europe's Most Valuable Startup at $115 Billion

Revolut has reached a private valuation of $115 billion, surpassing several established European banks as it expands its global customer base to 80 million.

Fintech company Revolut has become the most valuable startup in Europe with a private valuation of $115 billion, exceeding the market values of traditional institutions like Barclays and Societe Generale. The company reported a 2025 pretax profit of £1.7 billion and has expanded its user base to 80 million customers.

CEO Nikolay Storonsky is leading a global expansion strategy targeting markets in Australia and Mexico while securing licenses to compete directly with retail banks. Despite this growth, the company struggles to convert users into primary account holders and maintains a smaller lending portfolio and lower revenue per customer than traditional lenders.

Revolut continues to face regulatory and security hurdles. These include a money laundering fine in Lithuania, a data leak in September, and a high volume of fraud complaints in Britain throughout 2024 and 2025. However, the company's scale has drawn attention from industry leaders, including the CEO of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, who noted that 2025 would be the final year his bank recorded higher profits than the fintech firm.
