Berkshire Hathaway Invests $330 Million in Bending Spoons
Berkshire Hathaway acquired a 4% stake in Bending Spoons through a private placement to fund the software company's future technology acquisitions.
Berkshire Hathaway acquired a 4% stake in Bending Spoons, a Milan-based software and digital-subscription company, through a $330 million private placement. The investment consists of 10 million ordinary shares purchased at $33 per share, a price roughly 13% below the previous Tuesday's closing price.
This transaction follows an initial $600 million investment made by Berkshire Hathaway during the initial public offering of Bending Spoons in July 2026. The move is part of a broader portfolio reshaping led by Greg Abel, who assumed the role of CEO of Berkshire Hathaway at the start of the year.
Bending Spoons intends to use the new capital to fund further acquisitions of technology companies, continuing a strategy of transforming digital businesses such as AOL, Vimeo, and Evernote. Shares of Bending Spoons rose between 35% and 38% during Wednesday trading following the announcement.
