Salesforce Shifts to Agent-First Model With Agentforce Platform
Salesforce, Inc. is transitioning to an agent-centric software model to automate complex business processes and challenge traditional ERP providers.
Salesforce, Inc. is transitioning its enterprise software strategy toward an agent-first model centered on the Agentforce platform. At the TrailblazerDX conference, the company introduced a headless architecture designed to allow AI agents to orchestrate applications and automate complex business processes.
Senior Vice President John Kucera confirmed the company intends to expand into end-to-end processes such as order-to-cash, a sector typically dominated by ERP providers like SAP and Oracle. Because AI agents automate tasks previously performed by humans, Salesforce is currently rethinking its traditional per-seat subscription pricing model.
Despite these strategic pivots and a partnership with the travel platform Engine on April 15, the company faces financial pressure. On April 17, Piper Sandler reduced its price target for Salesforce from $250 to $215, citing long-term earnings pressure and increased competition from advanced AI model developers.
