Claire’s Accessories UK Collapses and Closes 154 Stores
Claire’s Accessories UK and Ireland entered administration and closed all 154 stores, resulting in 1,300 job losses and a sale to Modella Capital.
Claire’s Accessories UK and Ireland collapsed into administration, leading to the closure of its final 154 stores in April 2026 and the loss of 1,300 jobs. The company owed £20 million at the time of its closure.
Administrators cited an inability to secure rent reductions from landlords, the termination of a major concession agreement, and poor trading performance in late 2025 as primary causes for the failure. The business also struggled with weak consumer confidence and increased competition from low-cost overseas online retailers.
Modella Capital acquired most of the business and assets for £3.6 million. This collapse follows a 2025 bankruptcy filing by the brand's US-based parent company, Claire’s Holdings LLC, in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
