Lowe's Expands Professional Segment Amid Dividend Growth
Lowe's Companies is targeting professional construction growth and maintaining its 55-year dividend increase streak despite recent housing market sluggishness.
Lowe's Companies is pivoting its business strategy toward the professional construction segment, a move highlighted by the acquisition of Foundation Building Materials. This strategic shift comes as the home improvement retailer navigates a sluggish housing market that caused diluted earnings per share to drop from $13.20 in fiscal year 2024 to $11.85 in fiscal year 2026.
Analysts estimate a recovery to $12.30 per share this fiscal year. Despite these earnings fluctuations, the company maintains its status as a Dividend King, having increased its payout for 55 consecutive years. In May, the company implemented a 4% hike, raising the dividend to $1.25 per share.
Lowe's currently offers a forward dividend yield of approximately 2.3%, more than double the S&P 500 average of 1.1%. The company maintains a forward payout ratio of 41%, which provides a larger margin for error than its primary competitor, Home Depot, which operates with a 65% payout ratio and a higher valuation of 21 times forward earnings.
