Rambus Shares Drop 20% Despite Record Quarterly Revenue

Rambus Inc. reported record Q2 2026 revenue of $207.4 million, but shares fell as investors reacted to shrinking profit margins.

Rambus Inc. reported record quarterly revenue of $207.4 million for Q2 2026, marking a 20% increase year-over-year and exceeding analyst forecasts. The company attributed this growth to a 22% rise in product revenue, which reached $99.2 million. This surge was driven by the adoption of DDR5 9600 chipsets and an HBM IP design win with a Tier-1 hyperscaler.

Despite these records and optimistic third-quarter guidance projecting revenue between $210 million and $216 million, shares of the memory interface designer fell up to 20%. Investors reacted negatively to margin compression, as the trailing-twelve-month net margin declined from 35.5% to 31.7%.

Product gross margins also drifted toward the lower end of the company's target range of 60% to 65%. Rambus attributed these pressures to product mix variations and supply chain costs.
