Rajasthan Congress Pledges 60% of Election Tickets to Youth

The Rajasthan Congress party will allocate 60% of its municipal and Panchayati Raj election tickets to youth and Generation Z candidates.

The Indian National Congress in Rajasthan has announced a strategic shift in candidate selection for upcoming municipal and Panchayati Raj elections, pledging to allocate 60% of its tickets to youth and Generation Z candidates.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot advocated for the transition, arguing that senior leaders often lack awareness of ground realities while youth participation is rising. Gehlot specifically opposed awarding tickets based on recommendations from senior leadership, asserting that such practices have historically led to electoral defeat and that tickets should instead go to genuine and dedicated party workers.

Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra confirmed the 60% quota and added that the party will evaluate candidates based on their past political behavior. The party intends to penalize individuals who previously won on a Congress ticket but later defected to other political parties.
