Eurozone Economy Grows 0.4 Percent in Second Quarter

Eurostat confirmed that the Eurozone economy grew by 0.4% on a quarter-on-quarter basis during the second quarter of 2026. This second estimate aligns with preliminary data and follows a revised growth rate of 0.0% for the first quarter.

On a yearly basis, economic growth in the euro area rose to 1.0%, an increase from 0.5% in the previous period. This expansion occurred despite energy shocks resulting from ongoing hostilities in the Middle East. Supporting data shows that productivity increased by 0.3% and employment rose by 0.1% during the second quarter.

Analysts indicate that household spending drove the growth as consumers reduced their savings to compensate for dwindling real incomes. A third estimate of the second-quarter GDP is scheduled for release on September 7.
