Arab Recruitment in Israel Police Drops to 0.26 Percent

The Israel Police saw a sharp decline in Muslim and Arab recruits in 2025 following the implementation of stricter vetting and language requirements.

Recruitment of Muslim and Arab citizens into the Israel Police has declined sharply over the last four years, according to figures from the Ministry of National Security. In 2025, only 110 recruits were identified as Muslim, Bedouin, or Arab Christian, accounting for 0.26% of the 3,294 new officers who joined the force that year. The total police manpower for 2025 was 36,856 officers.

Officials from the Ministry of National Security attribute the downward trend to a revised vetting policy. This directive requires all enlistment candidates to meet uniform minimum threshold conditions, specifically a psychotechnical score of at least 4 out of 9 and demonstrated proficiency in the Hebrew language.
