Lyft and Hertz Offer Discounted Travel for Midterm Voters
Lyft and Hertz are providing discounted rides and rental car deals to help citizens reach polling places during the midterm elections.
Several companies and non-profit organizations are providing discounted transportation to assist voters during the midterm elections. Lyft is offering 50% off rideshare, bikeshare, or scooter trips to polling places, capped at $10, for travel between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. local time using the promo code VOTE26.
Hertz is contributing by providing one free day for customers who rent vehicles for two or more days from neighborhood locations through November 3. Simultaneously, the Vote to Live Action Fund and the Vote to Live Foundation are distributing ride vouchers in several U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas, Milwaukee, and various cities across Ohio.
Jerry Golden, the Chief Policy Officer at Lyft, stated that the program exists because the company wants every rider to have the chance to be heard, noting that no one should be shut out of shaping the shared future due to a lack of reliable transportation.
