Richard Hammond Liquidates Production Firm and Rescues Car Garage

Richard Hammond entered his production company into voluntary liquidation while taking majority control of The Smallest Cog garage to resolve significant debts.

Television presenter Richard Hammond has entered Hamster's Wheel Productions into voluntary liquidation. The London-based independent production company, co-founded in 2008 with his former wife Mindy Hammond, remains solvent with nearly £4 million in assets, including cash and receivables. This windfall will be shared between the two, who ended their 28-year marriage in 2025.

Simultaneously, Hammond has taken majority control of The Smallest Cog, a classic car restoration garage in Hereford. To rescue the business from approximately £700,000 in debt, Hammond injected nearly £600,000 of his own funds. Filings from December 2025 confirm he holds at least 75 percent of the company's shares and voting rights, granting him authority over the board of directors.

The restructuring of the garage followed the departure of mechanic and business partner Neil Greenhouse, who left due to frustrations with television filming deadlines. Hammond stated that the business has been restructured and is finally starting to work. These financial struggles and the subsequent takeover will be featured in the sixth season of Richard Hammond's Workshop, which premieres October 27 on Discovery+ and Quest TV.
