Panasonic Recalls 13,600 Toaster Ovens Over Shock Risks
Panasonic is recalling over 13,600 Flashxpress toaster ovens in the U.S. and Canada due to defective power cord insulation that poses shock and fire hazards.
Health Canada and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a joint recall on July 16, 2026, for over 13,600 Flashxpress electric toaster ovens. Panasonic determined that the power cords on the affected units have insufficient insulation because a protective fiberglass sleeve does not adequately cover the cord, creating risks of electric shock and fire.
The recall affects approximately 11,480 units of model NB-G200SVA (also referred to as NB-G200) in the United States and 2,184 units of model NB-G205S in Canada. All recalled units were manufactured in Canada and sold through online platforms, including Amazon, Costco, and Panasonic.com, between October 2024 and April 2026 for approximately $170.
No injuries or fires have been reported in either country. In the United States, the Consumer Product Safety Commission noted five instances of product failure or tripped circuit breakers and outlets. Health Canada confirmed that no incidents were reported in Canada as of June 15.
Panasonic is urging consumers to stop using the ovens immediately and contact the company for a full refund.
