US Military Clears Iranian Sea Mines in Strait of Hormuz

The United States military cleared sea mines from international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, removing threats previously laid by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Bradley Cooper, the head of Centcom, confirmed the operation's success, stating that forces had meticulously and quietly cleared the lanes over several months.

While the U.S. president declared the strait open and posted "mission accomplished" on social media, former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta disputed the victory. Panetta argued that the U.S. remains trapped in a "forever war" in the Middle East, claiming Iran still maintains leverage by using missiles and threats to block most shipping traffic, which has contributed to higher food and fuel prices in the U.S.

In a separate diplomatic effort, CIA Director John Ratcliffe traveled on a secret mission to Moscow. Ratcliffe delivered messages to the Kremlin concerning the war in Ukraine and warned Russia against conducting military incursions into NATO member countries.
