Johor Attracts 5 Billion Ringgit in High-Tech Investment Bids

Chief Minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced over 5 billion ringgit in potential investment bids for Johor following a working visit to Singapore.

Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the Chief Minister of Johor, announced that the state has attracted over 5 billion ringgit ($1.2 billion) in potential investment bids following a working visit to Singapore. The proposed projects target high-growth sectors, specifically semiconductor manufacturing equipment, health technology, and high-speed optical technology.

These investments follow the establishment of Johor as a major investment hub and the launch of a joint special economic zone with Singapore last year. The state expects these projects to introduce new technical expertise and create jobs within the region.

To support this growth and address investor concerns regarding the availability of highly skilled labor, the Government of Johor is prioritizing workforce development. This effort is being managed through the Johor Talent Development Council to ensure the local labor market can meet the requirements of incoming high-tech industries.
