Salesforce Upgrades Slackbot With 30 New Agentic AI Features
Salesforce transformed Slackbot into an active AI teammate capable of orchestrating workflows, transcribing meetings, and integrating native CRM tools for small businesses.
Between March 31 and April 3, 2026, Salesforce unveiled a comprehensive AI-driven overhaul of the Slack platform. The update introduces over 30 new agentic AI capabilities that evolve Slackbot from a basic assistant into an active teammate. The upgraded bot can now transcribe meetings, generate summaries with action items, and utilize voice interaction to orchestrate workflows across external applications.
Key technical enhancements include the adoption of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows Slackbot to function as a routing layer for Agentforce and over 6,000 Salesforce apps. A new desktop integration enables the bot to monitor active applications and calendars to provide context-aware suggestions. For small businesses, the update adds a native Salesforce CRM interface directly within Slack to manage customer relationships and deals.
CEO Marc Benioff reported that Slack now serves approximately one million businesses and has seen a 2.5x revenue increase since its acquisition. To support this shift toward an agentic era, Salesforce is restructuring its Partner Program to prioritize verifiable customer outcomes, targeting $1 billion in partner-influenced annual contract value for fiscal year 2027.
The rollout began immediately for Business+ and Enterprise+ plans, with Pro and Free plans receiving access throughout April. Additional features, including reusable AI skills and intelligent notetaking, are scheduled for release in May and June.
