Prime Video Invests $2 Billion in Latin American Content
Amazon Prime Video will invest over $2 billion in Latin American original programming and sports content between 2027 and 2030.
Amazon Prime Video announced a plan to invest more than $2 billion in Latin America from 2027 to 2030. The initiative aims to expand original programming and sports content across Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile.
Starting in 2026, the company intends to more than double its production of local originals, with over 25 new titles scheduled for 2027. In the sports sector, the service is utilizing an 11-year global NBA agreement to provide over 200 games per season in Brazil and Mexico, while introducing the league to Argentina, Colombia, and Chile. Prime Video will also begin broadcasting 38 home matches for the Mexico national team next month.
Beyond content production, the service is expanding its ecosystem in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay, and Peru. Later this year, users in these markets will be able to subscribe to third-party streaming services and access premium entertainment rentals and purchases.
