RTX Corp Receives $240 Million F-35 Engine Contract
The U.S. Department of Defense awarded RTX Corp a $240.7 million contract to improve F-35 engine readiness and resolve operational issues by March 2028.
The United States Department of Defense awarded RTX Corp a $240,754,035 contract modification to support the development and readiness of F-35 engines. The non-competitively procured agreement focuses on non-recurring engineering for the F135 engine, specifically targeting the resolution of operational issues and the transition of engine core upgrades into engineering and manufacturing development.
As part of the contract, the company will provide long-lead hardware for a spare test engine used by the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and F-35 Cooperative Program Partners. The project is funded through fiscal 2025 Air Force and Navy research and development funds, alongside contributions from F-35 cooperative program partners.
Work is scheduled for completion by March 2028. While the project will be distributed across eight locations, the primary operations will take place in East Hartford, Connecticut.
