Israeli Shelling and Explosives Kill Two in Southern Lebanon

Israeli military activity killed two Lebanese men in the Bint Jbeil district during an olive harvest, despite a June ceasefire agreement.

Two Lebanese men died on Sunday in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon while participating in the annual olive harvest. In the village of Froun, an engineer from Beirut was killed when a foreign object left over from previous Israeli operations exploded. In Yater, a second man died from Israeli shelling that targeted the outskirts of the town.

The Lebanese Armed Forces attributed the Yater fatality to Israeli tank fire and described the ongoing attacks as "a flagrant breach of existing agreements." These incidents occurred despite a framework ceasefire reached in June, which mandates the disarmament of Hezbollah, a gradual Israeli withdrawal, and the deployment of the Lebanese army.

Israeli military activity continues in the region, including artillery fire, demolition operations, and airstrikes on Tallousa, Kfar Tebnit, and Al-Mansouri. Hassan Bazzi, the mayor of Froun, confirmed the death of the engineer and announced the suspension of the olive harvest in the village.
