Toys R Us Expands U.S. Footprint With New Mall Stores
Toys R Us will open new retail locations this fall at Great Northern Mall in Ohio and Northridge Fashion Center in California.
Retailer Toys R Us is expanding its physical presence in the United States with new store openings scheduled for this fall at the Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted, Ohio, and the Northridge Fashion Center in the San Fernando Valley, California. The expansion is part of a broader strategy by brand management company WHP Global to rebuild the retailer's brick-and-mortar footprint following its 2017 bankruptcy and 2018 closure of all U.S. stores.
At the Great Northern Mall, the retailer will open a 6,500-square-foot store near Center Court. This marks a return to the North Olmsted area, where a standalone location previously closed in 2018. The opening coincides with the mall's 50th anniversary on November 3 and is part of a larger expansion featuring eight new businesses, including ROOKH, One Pot Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, King Gyro, O & Leaf Bistro, Her Hijabs, Fluff Factory, and Tier 1.
In California, the new store at Northridge Fashion Center will be located on Level 2 across from Sephora. Toys R Us currently operates more than 30 standalone and flagship locations nationwide, in addition to shops hosted within Macy's stores, a partnership that began in 2021.
