Sabotage Attacks Damage Two Syrian Energy Pipelines

The Syrian Petroleum Company responded to sabotage attacks on an oil pipeline near Homs and a gas pipeline in Hasakah province on October 15.

Two energy pipelines were damaged in separate sabotage attacks across Syria on October 15, 2026. The Syrian Petroleum Company managed the emergency response to both incidents, which targeted critical fuel and gas infrastructure.

Early in the morning, a pipeline transporting oil products from Baniyas to Homs was punctured near the village of Hudeida. The incident caused a gasoline leak, which the company later attributed to sabotage intended for fuel theft. Response teams, including firefighting and excavation crews, isolated the affected section by closing upstream and downstream valves to secure the site.

Later that afternoon, at 5:15 p.m., the Jbessa gas export pipeline exploded in the al-Arabidi area of Hasakah province, approximately 60 km from Shaddadi. The explosion triggered a fire, prompting the company to close valves at the Jbessa gas plant and the Deir Ezzor gas station. Despite the damage, the company stated that domestic gas supplies remained unaffected and power stations would continue to receive gas through alternative arrangements.

These attacks follow a pattern of recent strikes on Syrian energy infrastructure occurring in late September and early October.
