Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced Sunday that she has not ruled out running for president or the U.S. Senate in 2028. Speaking on ABC News's "This Week," the New York Democrat noted she is humbled by her current polling lead in several key states, including New Hampshire, where she leads candidates Pete Buttigieg and Mark Kelly. A potential Senate run would coincide with the reelection cycle for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

During the interview, Ocasio-Cortez revealed she is freezing her eggs to provide more depictions of women balancing professional lives and personal choices. She emphasized that while future bids are possible, Democrats must prioritize the upcoming midterm elections over individual aspirations.

Ocasio-Cortez also signaled a shift in her political approach, distancing herself from radical positions such as the abolition of prisons and the Senate or the "defund the police" movement. She advocated for the party to move away from cancel culture and engage with a broader political spectrum, suggesting appearances on platforms like Fox News and Joe Rogan to build a winning coalition.
