Vertex Pharmaceuticals Raises Revenue Forecast on Cystic Fibrosis Demand

Vertex Pharmaceuticals increased its annual revenue forecast to as high as $13.2 billion following strong second-quarter growth driven by cystic fibrosis treatments.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals raised the upper end of its annual revenue forecast on August 3, 2026, citing strong demand for its cystic fibrosis treatments. The company now projects annual revenue between $13.1 billion and $13.2 billion, an increase from its previous estimate of $12.95 billion to $13.1 billion.

Second-quarter total revenue grew 12% year-over-year to $3.33 billion, exceeding analyst estimates. This growth was supported by the new triple combination therapy Alyftrek, which generated $573.6 million in quarterly sales. Conversely, the older therapy Trikafta missed estimates, bringing in $2.50 billion in sales.

To diversify its portfolio beyond cystic fibrosis, Vertex is pursuing a $10 billion acquisition of Crinetics Pharmaceuticals. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter and will expand the company's reach into endocrine disorders.
