Glenn Grothman Wins Seventh Term in Wisconsin 6th District
Republican Glenn Grothman won reelection to Wisconsin's 6th Congressional District, defeating Democrat Brad Smith in a five-way contest.
Republican Glenn Grothman won reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives for Wisconsin's 6th Congressional District on November 4, 2026. In a five-way contest, Grothman secured a seventh term with nearly 55% of the vote, defeating Democratic challenger Brad Smith, who received under 42% with 81% of ballots counted.
Grothman campaigned on a platform of protecting family values, supporting manufacturing, and reforming the welfare system. Following his victory, Grothman expressed concerns regarding the national debt and the leadership style of President Donald Trump, stating that the president must be more humble and cautious to avoid unnecessary spending programs.
Brad Smith, an IT consultant running a grassroots campaign focused on the economy and cost of living, noted that his performance exceeded historical Democratic benchmarks for the district. The 6th District has remained under Republican control since 1967, with Barack Obama being the only nationwide candidate to win the seat since then.
Grothman's victory occurred amid significant Republican losses in Wisconsin. With the defeat of Representatives Bryan Steil and Derrick Van Orden, Grothman is now one of only four Republicans remaining in the state's congressional delegation.
