Marvell Technology to Acquire Lumentum for $115 Billion
Marvell Technology announced a $115 billion acquisition of Lumentum to expand its high-speed optical component capabilities for AI data centers.
Marvell Technology announced on November 2, 2026, that it will acquire optical-components maker Lumentum in a deal valued at $115 billion. The acquisition is a strategic move to capture the ongoing AI spending boom, specifically targeting the high demand for high-speed optical components used in AI data centers.
By integrating Lumentum, Marvell intends to strengthen its competitive position against Broadcom Inc, the primary custom-chip partner for Google. The deal follows Marvell's recent success in securing a significant contract to supply chips for Google's AI processors.
The acquisition also positions Marvell to benefit from a proposed United States ban on new Chinese optical transceivers, which is expected to shift market demand toward domestic suppliers. Earlier this year, Nvidia invested $2 billion in both Marvell and Lumentum.
