Apple Increases iPhone Duo Production After Record Pre-Orders

Apple raised iPhone Duo shipment targets to 14 million units following extraordinary pre-order demand in India and the United States.

The first foldable smartphone from Apple Inc., the iPhone Duo, sold out its entire first week of stock in India through pre-bookings. Pre-orders began on October 16, with the highest volumes recorded at Apple Stores in Mumbai and New Delhi. The device, priced between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh in India and starting at $1,999 in the United States, is scheduled for official sale on October 23.

Following extraordinary demand, Apple increased its first-year shipment target by 44%, raising orders from 9.7 million to 14 million units. In the U.S., delivery estimates slipped into January 2027 within hours of pre-orders opening. To capitalize on the momentum, Apple expanded the launch to over 70 countries and regions, moving the debut forward from late November.

Supply remains constrained as Hon Hai Precision Industry is the sole assembler in China. Production has faced difficulties regarding hinge performance and screen flatness. While some reports cite the 14 million unit target, other sources report initial orders of roughly 8 million units extending into 2027. Analysts expect the iPhone Duo to capture approximately 24 percent of the foldable market, competing directly with the Samsung Z Fold 8 series.
