Palestinian Prisoners Society Reports 2,000 Children Detained by Israel
The Palestinian Prisoners Society reports that Israeli forces have detained over 2,000 Palestinian children since October 2023, alleging widespread torture and medical neglect.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society reported Wednesday that Israeli forces have detained more than 2,000 Palestinian children since October 2023. The organization states that at least 350 children remain in custody, where they face a pattern of starvation, torture, intimidation, and the denial of healthcare.
Specific cases cited in the report include 15-year-old Mohammed Hamid, who underwent a leg amputation after suffering severe infections in Ofer Prison, and 17-year-old Walid Ahmed, who died in Megiddo Prison in March 2025. The group criticized the use of administrative detention, which allows the state to hold detainees without formal charges or set release dates. The report also noted that the total number of children detained in Gaza remains unknown due to enforced disappearances.
Beyond Palestinian nationals, the report highlighted the detention of American citizens, including Adam Wajeh Abdelfattah Karakrah, Abdalkareem Issa Ahmed Safi, and Mohammed Ibrahim. The Palestinian Prisoners Society is calling for international intervention to end prison abuses and secure the release of children held arbitrarily.
