Manus Resumes Independent Operations After Meta Deal Blocked

Manus will return to operating as an independent company after Chinese authorities forced the unwind of its $2 billion acquisition by Meta Platforms Inc.

Manus will resume operations as an independent company following the forced unwind of its $2 billion acquisition by Meta Platforms Inc. The transaction was blocked in April by the National Development and Reform Commission, a Chinese government agency that cited concerns over the loss of valuable technology to a geopolitical rival.

Manus and Meta completed their operational split in May, which included halting all data-sharing between the two entities. To comply with these regulatory requirements, the founders of Manus have explored raising approximately $1 billion to fund a buyback of the company.

In a message to users on Tuesday, Manus announced upcoming feature updates for its AI agents but warned that the transition could result in some account impacts and data deletion.
