South Korea Sets 400 Trillion-Won K-Culture Goal After Record Exports
South Korea's content exports hit a record $14.9 billion in 2025, prompting Culture Minister Chae Hwi-young to raise the 2030 K-culture market target to 400 trillion won.
Chae Hwi-young, the South Korean Culture Minister, announced a revised target to develop a 400 trillion-won K-culture market by 2030. This goal increases the previous target of 300 trillion won, following a period of significant growth in the nation's cultural exports.
South Korea's content industry exports reached a record $14.9 billion in 2025, up from $14.1 billion the year prior. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism attributed this surge to government policies specifically designed to establish the K-content industry as a primary growth sector.
The growth extended to tourism and foreign spending. Overseas visitors increased to 18.9 million, while foreign credit card spending reached a record $14.1 billion. Officials linked these gains to relaxed entry policies and strengthened international marketing efforts.
