Georgia Voters Prepare for November 3 Midterm Elections
Georgia voters will cast ballots on November 3 for the General Assembly and key state offices alongside three proposed constitutional amendments.
Georgia voters will head to the polls on November 3 for midterm elections that will determine party control of all 236 seats in the Georgia General Assembly. The ballot includes several high-profile state races, including the contest for State Superintendent of Schools between incumbent Richard Woods and challenger Dr. Lydia Powell. While Powell characterizes the state's literacy situation as a crisis, Woods has dismissed the claim, stating "he doesn’t believe it’s a crisis at all."
Other key contests include the race for Commissioner of Labor, where appointed incumbent Bárbara Rivera Holmes faces Nikki Porcher. At the local level, Bulloch County voters will decide between Anthony D. Simmons and Spencer Johnson for County Commissioner District 1 Seat B, while Republican Lehman Franklin runs unopposed for State House District 160.
In addition to candidate races, voters will decide on three constitutional amendments. These proposals seek to increase tax breaks for large landowners designated for conservation, transition probate judge elections to a nonpartisan format, and establish dedicated funding to upgrade aging 911 infrastructure. Early voting is open through October 30, with the deadline for mail-in ballot requests set for October 23.
