Josh Gottheimer Leads Democrats in Pledge Against Socialism

Representative Josh Gottheimer and 14 other Democrats and Democratic candidates signed a "Promise to America" pledge intended to prevent socialism from influencing the Democratic Party. The signatories formally identify as capitalists and commit to prioritizing economic growth, fiscal discipline, public safety, and secure borders.

Gottheimer described the Democratic Socialists of America as "chaos creators" and compared their efforts to the Tea Party movement, arguing that they are attempting to hijack the party through primary victories. He asserted that mainstream Democrats do not share the values of socialists, specifically highlighting a commitment to law enforcement and border security as a dividing line.

Additionally, Gottheimer warned against endorsing candidates who hold antisemitic views, characterizing such an action as "a deal with the devil." He positioned the signatories as the mainstream wing of the party in opposition to extreme elements.
