Former Advice Worker Calls for UK Pension System Overhaul

Wade highlights the specific plight of workers over 50 who become unemployed and struggle to secure new roles before reaching the state pension age. He identifies the physical limitations of older workers and the shifting state pension age for women as primary factors that leave older citizens stranded without adequate support.

To address these gaps, Wade advocates for the creation of a modern equivalent to the 1942 Beveridge report. He asserts that such a framework is necessary to establish alternative routes and protections for those out of work as they transition toward retirement.
